This program opens with an unusual premiere – a composition by Florence Price, who went down in history as the first African-American woman whose work was performed by a top professional orchestra (The Chicago Symphony Orchestra). The author’s activity is related to the first half of the 20th century and her interesting life and career were recorded in a documentary film entitled The Caged Bird – Life and Music by Florence Price (2015). Our concert features the moderately slow movement of her first string quartet, adapted for string orchestra.
The central event of the evening is certainly the performance of Nemanja Radulović. After spectacular concerts in Belgrade and Moscow in 2016, conductor Daniel Raiskin and our violin megastar will once again share the concert podium and with the invaluable support of our philharmonic orchestra will create once again the magical atmosphere by which these concerts are remembered.
